Trust was inspired by Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the L-RD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” The waves symbolize the turmoil of life as well as the ever-challenging evolutions of new doctrines and the need for true discernment as Ephesians 4:14 tells us “…so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.” Keeping our focus on G-d and not our understanding, praising Him in the midst of our struggles keeps our path straight. The waves form the letter shin. There are a lot written about the meanings of the letter shin. It is interesting that one of its five definitions is “stead-fastness in one’s faith.”
